Mystery Solved: The White Dial Speedmaster

Last November, at the Planet Omega event in New York, Daniel Craig's choice of watch sparked a frenzy in the watch community. Against his dark grey suit, the striking white dial stood out prominently. What made it even more intriguing was that the watch hadn't been officially introduced yet. Although it bore resemblances to the "Alaska Project" and white-dial Canopus Gold models, there were distinct differences. The internet was set ablaze. Today, Omega has officially unveiled this enigmatic white Speedmaster, revealing its unique features.

At its core, this is essentially another high-quality Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional crafted in stainless steel. It retains the classic asymmetrical case, measuring 42mm wide, 13.2mm thick, and 47.5mm lug-to-lug. The watch features sapphire crystals on both the front and back, encapsulating its inner workings, and is complemented by a "Dot Over 90" black aluminum bezel.

Powering the timepiece is Omega's Master Chronometer-certified caliber 3861 chronograph movement. As expected from a "sapphire sandwich," the bracelet boasts a combination of brushed and polished links and includes an integrated extension. For those who prefer alternatives to the bracelet, options include a black micro-perforated leather strap with red and white stitching or an anti-bacterial rubber strap featuring a moon surface pattern on the underside. But hold on, we're just getting to the exciting part.

Omega's latest release boasts a sleek lacquer white dial, marking a notable departure for the standard Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional crafted in steel. While the traditional Omega Speedmaster design prioritized optimal readability with its black dial and white hands, this new combination achieves the same level of legibility effortlessly. The timepiece showcases black hands and markers, along with a darkened logo, while "Speedmaster" and the tip of the chronograph hand are highlighted in vibrant red, injecting a burst of color into the dial.
